Founded in 1994, this premier technology company quickly earned a national reputation as an industry leader in the development of regulatory and enterprise resource management solutions for state and local government agencies and for public and private businesses. Locally, ACO earned the Mobile Chamber of Commerce Future 30 award in 1995, 1997, 1998, and 2001 as well as the Chamber’s Small Business of the Year award in 2001.

ACO Information Service's flagship product, the STAR System, was originally developed to register securities, mutual funds, and the people who sell them. Today's STAR (Store, Track, and Report) System handles an array of functions in both the regulatory and commercial markets. This uniquely flexible and highly configurable software solution empowers both public and private enterprises by delivering the organization tools required by their business processes and resulting business data. Leveraging Microsoft .NET technologies, the component-based STAR System is a truly innovative, largely COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) framework that easily adjusts to the business case environment in which it is installed. The STAR System is currently deployed in over 25 agencies in 13 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.

The STAR System family of software solutions includes STAR Agenda (agenda creation and management), STAR Consumer Services (licensing, examination, and enforcement of non-depository consumer banking institutions), STAR Financial Services (chartering, examination, and enforcement of depository institutions), STAR Occupational Licensing (registration and enforcement of almost any category of licensed professionals), STAR PSC (management of all phases of the filing cycle for public service commissions), STAR Securities (securities registration, tracking, examination, and enforcement), and STAR Web Portal (information, search, and filing over the Internet).
